FAQs
Interested in joining us for a class? We got you, Mama. Here is everything you need to know.
Current Class Policies
Policies for FIT4MOM McAllen
You MUST pre-register for class. If you cannot attend a class you are registered for, please cancel your enrollment at least one hour in advance - no charge if you cancel an hour before. We are all moms, and we understand that the motherhood is very real and often unpredictable, but we cannot cancel for you if you can no longer attend.
No shows and late cancellations will result in a $10 charge.
A three (3) mom minimum is required for classes to be held. If less than 3 moms are enrolled an hour before the start time, class will be canceled and no penalties will be issued to those enrolled.
All children under the age of 5 must stay in their strollers for the duration of stroller fitness classes. If your child is over 5 years old, ask us about our Big Kid Waiver so they can walk beside you as we change stations and sit near you during the workout.
If baby wearing, children must be in a structured carrier. Soft carriers such as ring slings, wraps, and others are not allowed as they do not provide enough support.
We require moms to bring their own equipment. If you do not have a band, you can purchase from us or borrow from your instructor on-site. Equipment used for class must be purchased from FIT4MOM McAllen.
In the event of precipitation, workouts without available coverings will be moved indoors or canceled.
- If the temperature is forecasted to be below 50°F during the time of class, the class will be moved indoors or canceled. We'll make the final call an hour before the start of class and let you know the answer via social media and email. (Must be enrolled in the class to get notified of any changes via email.)
If you and/or any member of your household have any symptoms of illness within 24 hours, we expect you to please stay home.
We respect and welcome every mom, and our goal is to make sure every mom feels safe and comfortable in our classes. We ask that all moms be respectful of one another.
Should you have any questions or concerns about our process, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you in class soon!

Medical Clearance (Pre and Postnatal)
We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are qualified to lead our professionally designed pre/postnatal fitness programs that follow the latest American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy. FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval before beginning this program. If you're pregnant and looking to start working out with us, please speak with your physician ahead of time.
Exercise during pregnancy has proven beneficial and helps improve or increase the following:
Cardiovascular fitness
Muscular strength/endurance
Energy levels
Higher fatigue threshold
Posture and biomechanics
Circulation
Self-esteem, sense of well-being
Recovery time
Moms who have recently given birth can join us for class after they've been cleared by their doctor, typically around 6 weeks postpartum.
Stroller based programs
Can I baby wear my little one?
You sure can! We require structured carriers to be worn during workouts since soft carriers, like ring slings, wraps, and similar do not provide enough support for the baby. Be mindful of overheating as well.
Can I try a class before I join?
Your first class is always free! Click the link at the top of your screen to find out more.
Do I need to pre-register or can I just show up?
You must register in advance before attending class. When you pre-register, you ensure you get details about where to meet us, class changes or cancelations, and what to expect.
You can sign up for a class here
What do I need to bring to class?
For you: water, workout mat or towel to lay on, and comfortable exercise shoes and clothing.
For your littles: snacks, toys, diaper bag essentials, and any type of stroller (for stroller classes).
If class is held outside, please bring the appropriate gear.
Cold weather: blanket, hat, gloves, jacket, etc
Warm weather: sunscreen, stroller fan, hat, cold towel, etc
I just had a baby, when can I join stroller classes?
You can begin attending class with your doctor's clearance to begin exercising, typically after your six week postpartum appointment. See you there, mama!
Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?
Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy.
FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning any exercise program. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.
How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?
In case of inclement weather, outdoor class locations may change. Pre-enroll for classes to be emailed with last minute weather location changes or cancellations. You can also check the schedule on our website.
Do I need to be a runner to attend these classes?
Absolutely not! Fit4mom is for moms of all fitness levels. We meet for a warm up, then power walk or jog to each exercise station. You exercise at the pace you feel most comfortable.
At what age can my baby be in a jogger?
As a general guideline, when your baby can hold his/her head up, he/she can ride in a jogger. But, we suggest that you follow your own stroller manufacturer’s guidelines. You can use a head roll and bolster to make your baby even more secure. With shock absorbers and recline features, the age can be quite young.
Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?
Jogging strollers are not required. As long as the stroller or wagon is sturdy and all children can be safely strapped into their seats for the duration of class, it will work just fine!
My baby doesn't like being in the stroller! What if they get fussy or need to be fed?
Our classes are designed to keep the kids moving and engaged by incorporating songs, books, and various props to keep them engaged. With that said, if you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so - remember, you are in good company. Just step away and jump back when you're ready. Children are not allowed to be out of the stroller while mom is actively exercising.
Can my older children walk along or ride their bike during class?
Safety is our top priority, so we do not allow kids 5 years old and younger to be out of the stroller during class.
Children 5 years old and up must read and sign our Big Kid Waiver before attending class. Big kids are allowed to sit beside you while stopped at a station and walk alongside you as we move to our next spot during class. Things with wheels including, but not limited to scooters, bikes, and skateboards, are not to be ridden during class.
