FAQs

Interested in joining us for a class? We got you, Mama. Here is everything you need to know.

Current Class Procedures

CURRENT PROCEDURES FOR ALL CLASSES

  • You MUST pre-register for class. If you cannot attend a class you are registered for, please cancel your enrollment at least one hour in advance - no charge if you cancel an hour before. We are all moms, and we understand that the motherhood is very real and often unpredictable, but we cannot cancel for you if you can no longer attend.

  • No shows and late cancellations will result in a $10 charge.

  • A two (2) mom minimum is required for classes to be held. If less than 2 moms are enrolled an hour before the start time, class will be canceled and no penalties will be issued to those enrolled.

  • All children under the age of 5 must stay in their strollers for the duration of stroller fitness classes. If your child is over 5 years old, ask us about our Big Kid Waiver so they can walk beside you as we change stations and sit near you during the workout.

  • We encourage moms to bring their own equipment. If you do not have a band, you can purchase from us or borrow from your instructor on site.

  • In the event of precipitation, workouts without available coverings will be moved indoors, or to virtual, or be canceled.

  • If the temperature is forecasted to be below 50°F during the time of class, the class will be moved indoors, or to virtual, or be canceled. We'll make the final call an hour before the start of class and let you know the answer via social media and email. (Must be enrolled in the class to get notified of any changes via email.)
  • We will remain outdoors for as much of the year as possible. If you would like ideas on how to dress appropriately for the weather, or need ideas on how to keep children warm during cold weather/cool during warm weather, please ask. We have many seasoned mamas willing to share their favorite tips and gear with you!

  • If you and/or any member of your household have any symptoms of illness within 24 hours, we expect you to please stay home.

  • If you and/or any member of your household have been exposed to/tested positive for COVID-19 and have recently attended a FIT4MOM McAllen class, please let Amanda Thompson know immediately at (956)524-2019 so we can make others aware . You will remain anonymous in the notice.

We respect and welcome every mom, and our goal is to make sure every mom feels safe + comfortable in our classes. We ask that all moms are respectful of one another.

Should you have any questions or concerns about our process, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you in class soon!

As of October 2022

VIRTUAL CLASSES

Yes, mama, you can still get a great workout in at home! It's easier and more fun than you think.

All you'll need is

  • A Zoom account and the app installed on your phone, tablet, or computer

  • Enough room to move (at least 2 big steps in each direction - R/L, F/B)

  • Your equipment nearby (we'll tell you what you'll need before we start)

Zoom invite will be emailed to you before the start of class. If you do not receive it 5 minutes prior to start time, please text Amanda Thompson at (956)524-2019.

Virtual Stroller Strides can be done with or without baby in the stroller, or go child-less and stroller-less all together. If you need to keep your kids occupied, you can put on their favorite show or movie, give them some snacks to munch on, have them play within your view (but away from where you're working out so no one gets hurt), or put them down for a nap. It's totally okay if your kid runs across the screen with the diaper on their head - we get it! The most important thing is that you're moving safely and getting an effective workout.

Virtual Body Boost is a mom only class and requires you you to be focused since it moves quickly, so it's best to put the kids down for the night or have someone watch them while you workout.

MEDICAL CLEARANCE (PRE AND POST-NATAL)

We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are qualified to lead our professionally designed pre/postnatal fitness programs that follow the latest American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy. FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.

Exercise during pregnancy has proven beneficial and helps improve or increase the following:

  • Cardiovascular fitness

  • Muscular strength/endurance

  • Energy levels

  • Higher fatigue threshold

  • Posture and biomechanics

  • Circulation

  • Self-esteem, sense of well-being

  • Recovery time

Moms who have recently given birth can join us for class after they've been cleared by their doctor, typically around 6 weeks postpartum.

What do I need to bring to class

For you: water, towel, yoga mat, or blanket, sunscreen, and comfortable exercise shoes and clothing.

For your littles: snacks, toys, diaper bag essentials, and any type of stroller.

I just had a baby, when can I join stroller classes?

You can begin attending class with your doctor's clearance to begin exercising, typically after your six week postpartum appointment. See you there, mama!

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy.

Fit4mom® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning any exercise program. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.

How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?

In case of inclement weather, outdoor class locations may change. Pre-enroll for classes to be emailed with last minute weather location changes or cancellations. You can also check the schedule on our website.

Do I need to be a runner to attend these classes?

Absolutely not! Fit4mom is for moms of all fitness levels. We meet for a warm up, then power walk or jog to each exercise station. You exercise at the pace you feel most comfortable.

At what age can my baby be in a jogger?

As a general guideline, when your baby can hold his/her head up, he/she can ride in a jogger. But, we suggest that you follow your own stroller manufacturer’s guidelines. You can use a head roll and bolster to make your baby even more secure. With shock absorbers and recline features, the age can be quite young.

Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?

Jogging strollers are not required. As long as the stroller is sturdy, not prone to tipping and all children can be safely strapped into their seats for the duration of class, it will work just fine!

My baby doesn't like being in the stroller, gets fussy or I need to feed?

Our classes are designed to keep the kids moving and engaged by incorporating songs and various props to keep them engaged. With that said, if you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so - remember, you are in good company.

Can my older children walk along or ride their bike during class?

Safety is our first priority, so we do not allow kids 5 and younger to be out of the stroller during class.

Children 5 and up must read and sign our Big Kid Waiver before attending class. Big kids are allowed to sit beside you while stopped at a station, and walk alongside you as we move to our next station during class. Things with wheels including, but not limited to scooters, bikes, and skateboards, are not to be ridden during class.
