Tell us about who is in your family.

  • Samuel (my husband), Christopher (our son) and Molly (our dog)

Where is your hometown?

  • Monterrey, Mx. But now we are living in Mission, Tx

What is/was your career?

  • I studied Sacred Music, specializing in cello.

How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM McAllen, and what has it done for you?

  • I joined FIT4MOM at the end of June and it has been a great help to me. Before, I was always at home and wishing I could do something but not with options in which I could have my son with me. Exercising has helped me mentally and emotionally.

What is your favorite class exercise?

  • Any exercise that works my arms ;)

What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

  • The amount of effort you put into giving and being a better version of yourself for your child. And that even when you fail you don't give up, I always think tomorrow I have another new day to do better.

What are three of your favorite things?

  • Crafts, outside activities, and getting together with family and friends.

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

  • Every time I see Chris from afar doing something and I think of baby Chris. In how he has been growing in each stage and before he didn't walk and now that he runs and falls and keeps running. Chris was born with his thumbs in, he couldn't open his whole hand. Fortunately, I found out very very early and he received therapy and devices at his hands. And thank God his hands are now normal! And he looks at how now he can grab things in the most normal way. He makes me feel very proud of him!

What advice would you give to a new mother?

  • Everything will be fine! You will survive and with the passage of time it will be a little easier.

Anything else you'd like to add?

  • I've always wanted to find a moment to be able to say it and I think this is the perfect one. I am very proud of Amanda and very grateful for what she is doing. As a mom, I know how hard it is to get up early and have everything ready and leave on time out of the house. Thank you for giving us your time so that other moms can have a space that we did not have. And I am sure that she has helped many of us.
