This month, we're spotlighting Akari Mastumoto!
She's an incredible instructor, friend, and mama in our community and played a big part in helping start FIT4MOM McAllen. We'll miss her dearly as she and her family head out on their next adventure soon!

- In my family there is my husband, Markus and our children, Keiri and Arias.
Where is your hometown?
Albuquerque, New Mexico
What is/was your career?
- I was an elementary school teacher before becoming a mom.
How long have you been with FIT4MOM McAllen?
- Since day one I have had the privilege of being an instructor and participant of FIT4MOM McAllen. It has given me many friendships and the opportunity to spend time with my children while working out and connecting with other moms.
What is your favorite class to teach?
- Stroller Strides.
What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
- How quickly time goes by as you watch your children grow.
What are three of your favorite things?
- My husband and kids, reading, and midday coffee treats.
What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
- Watching my children interact with other children in positive and compassionate ways.
What advice would you give to a new mother?
- Try to take care of yourself, fill your cup when you can, and accept that things may not be what you planned.
Anything else you'd like to add?
- I’m so glad to be a part of this community. It has really made a difference in our day to day life and I’m very grateful to have been such an active part of the start of this great community of moms.
